Prelude

May 12; Quarantine day 49:

I was in this conversation with a friend where we were wondering how much time we spend/waste on social media. On a serious note, I was trying to convince myself to cut my screen time down and I was consuming a lot of social media content lately. So when she said that she takes these small breaks from it every month that inspired me to go on a sabbatical from the social world and experience the world around me.

After two days of creating videos of family members, solving the Rubik’s cube, writing online letters to friends, I realised. Oh, I had to write the blog which is due on coming Saturday but where’s the idea…what am I gonna write about?  

May 14; Quarantine day 51:

Around 1 in the night, a notification pops up. The notification opens up my Google Photos and shows ‘Memories 2 Years Ago – Jaipur Rajasthan’. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City, the capital of the state of deserts, Rajasthan. Thanks to Google Photos an idea popped up in my mind for the next blog.

Also in my previous blog post, I wrote about Shimla, the capital of the state of hills so why not write about my experience of the Capital of the state of deserts. So enough of my background leading to the blog let’s roll into Jaipur…

Also one last background to the visit of my Jaipur, I was accompanied by my sister and cousin and the primary motive of the visit was my Sister was shortlisted for admission at a College and they had further steps to secure the seat so our trip of three days was mostly spent according to the procedure and we had just one day to explore the whole of Jaipur which wasn’t much possible but we tried to cover as much as we could.

So yeah finally no more background let’s get directly to the Exploration part..(Also I don’t remember much about the journey, planning and the other two days we spent in Jaipur lol).

Exploration

We started early as earlier mentioned we had so much to discover in such a short time. We planned the day previous night, which place to visit first and stuff.

Hawa Mahal

Yeah, I know this is a typical choice. Anyone who visits Jaipur Hawa Mahal would probably be the number one destination in the list. The Hawa Mahal Palace is in the downtown area of Jaipur and near Johari Bazaar. It has 953 latticework windows which were initially made for ladies to watch out into the central avenue without being seen.

Many individuals stop here as they’re strolling by to take photographs of this wonderful structure. We spent around 2 hours exploring the Palace and then moved on to the second stoppage.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar was actually in a walking distance from the Hawa Mahal. It took us less than 15 minutes to reach Jantar Mantar. It was built by the Rajput Lord Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734, Jantar Mantar, Jaipur is a cosmic observatory, which includes the world’s biggest stone sundial. India has five of them, and the biggest one is in Jaipur. Jantar Mantar observatory is additionally a UNESCO World Heritage site that each traveller must add to their travel list. 

By the time we were done with these two on the list, it was already noon. And we had three more places to visit so we rushed to our lunch and left for third place on the list.

Jal Mahal

Set in the beautiful Man Sagar Lake, Jal Mahal (Water Palace) in Jaipur is an astounding structure that is by all accounts skimming on the lake’s surface. A compositional wonder in itself, it is an epitome of the designing ability of the Rajput time frame. The royal residence, which was worked as a chasing lodge for the Maharajas of Jaipur, has now gotten one of the prime vacation destinations in the city.

Although you can just see the picturesque marvel from the borders of the lake, surely it will leave you in the wonder of its beauty and engineering. On the pavements of the lake, there are a lot of stalls. It’s like a mini-bazaar where you can find Rajasthani attires on rent for a short period of time mainly so you can click pictures while wearing them.

We loitered around for half an hour, clicked some pictures and then left for fourth place on the list.

Amer Fort

Ride to Amer Fort was quite fun. We got an E- Rickshaw from the Jal Mahal to take us directly to the Amer Fort. Enroute to the Fort, We met a baba who had lived for more than 100 years. We reached the fort around 2:30, bought some water and tickets, the sun was blazing all his guns that day. We were a bit tired so we took a short break, rehydrated ourselves and then we were ready to explore.

On the top of the Aravali Hills lies the Amer Fort, one of the most sublime royal residences in India. Also known as the Amber Fort, this superb structure with its labyrinth-like entries and serpentine flights of stairs is a structural showstopper and with noteworthy significance in Indian history. It is 11 kilometres from the capital city of Jaipur, Amer Fort is clad in pink and yellow sandstone and is a piece of a broad complex. Worked by one of the most confident commanders of Akbar, Maharaja Man Singh I in the year 1592, Amer Fort filled in as the home of the Rajput Rulers. We spent the rest of our afternoon and evening there. The fort was so magnificent and picturesque, it took us almost 3 hours to soak in the beauty of it.

We were exhausted by the evening so we ditched our last destination (which was the Nahargarh Fort) and instead stayed back in the Palace to see the sunset. 

I don’t remember how we got back to the hotel or which place we visited while en route to the Hotel for dinner or something. All in all, it was a fun day out and the Palaces still come in my dreams on odd days.

P.S: We went back to Delhi the next day, and half of my photos got deleted. I don’t know how; whatever pictures were left I have used it here please forgive me for the quality of picture though. Ciao….
